FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Kay Gray Jewellery
Q: What materials are used to create Kay Gray Jewellery Pieces?
All my designs are made from recycled precious metals and a selection of rare & beautiful Australian native timbers.
Q: What makes your jewellery sustainable?
My commitment to sustainability involves using locally recycled precious metals and rare native Australian timbers in crafting our pieces.
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: I aim to be as close to zero waste as I can be. All the packaging I use is either 100% recyclable or compostable and I recycled precious metals. In addition to recycling as much as possible, I also work with timber suppliers and master carpenters to salvage/ upcycle wood that would otherwise be destroyed or discarded, this is another way I try to contribute to minimising waste.
- Energy Efficiency: I try to use hand tools as much as possible and use electrical tools as little as possible.
-
Sustainable Sourcing: I choose suppliers and partners that adhere to ethical and sustainable practices. As much as practicable, I prioritise locally sourced materials to reduce my carbon footprint and finally, I use gemstones from trusted suppliers that can guarantee provenance/ traceability.
Q: Can I request a custom design?
Absolutely! I love creating unique pieces. The process of commissioning a piece of jewellery is fairly simple. It involves discussing your ideas/ preferences and where possible forwarding reference images or doodles and deciding what materials you’d like. This is the foundation I will use to come up with a couple of loose sketches to get us closer to what the piece should look like. Once we’ve settled on the final design, I’ll send you a written quote with the confirmed details and delivery deadline. I will start work on the piece upon receipt of the 50% deposit.
If you have a special piece in mind or a design that has been floating around in your head, I would love to discuss possibilities with you. The first two consultations are free and you would not be obligated to make a purchase.
Contact me, and we can discuss your vision.
